Inspiration from Television

I’m going to let you all in on a little secret. I almost never watch a series during it’s peak. I hate spoilers. I hate waiting for the next episode. And I often am just far too lazy. Most of the time, concerning anime, I’ve got to wait since I’ve binged my way through every series I care about. BUT television is another story.

My SO and I started watching Rome recently. It’s only 2 seasons and was cancelled by HBO, but at this point, we’re watching it for inspiration. And I’m loving it. I’m so invested in the side characters. Which is probably not a good thing since the series does end up cancelled. Left without the type of conclusion you usually want. Urgh.

Overall, the story of Gaius Julius Caesar has always been one I’ve enjoyed. So far I’m really liking the way Rome tells his story. I’m not going to go into details since you’ve either seen the series or haven’t. If you’re interested in it, I highly encourage you to check it out.

The biggest reason we started watching the series is for roleplay inspiration. Greek/Roman history is a huge inspiration for the Elder Scrolls Online‘s Imperial setting. It’s a high fantasy game, but hits along a lot of the same notes. I’m not sure if anyone really understands roleplaying. It’s a thing… my SO and I do. Sort of like Dungeons and Dragons. Except we do it in an online video game setting with other players.

I really love TESO because it has housing that you’re able to decorate yourself. We’ve got a house on my SO’s account that has a giant temple and a fortress. It’s really customizable and gives you a lot of the same feels you get when you’re building homes in the Sims. One of my characters over there is an Imperial Priestess of the Eight Divines, a Pantheon of Gods in the Elder Scrolls lore. It’s a bit dorky, but back in the day, TESO was one of the things that inspired my artwork. I’ll have to do another post about that later.

Today’s post is going to be a bit short! I don’t want to ramble too much about my super nerdy hobby. Thanks for reading, guys. If you didn’t find it too boring, slap a like down so I know.
