Based on the novel, The Mummy Market, does anyone else remember this ’90s classic film? I got a weird vibe to watch some older movies the other day and just had to do it. I watched Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead on HBO and then launched into this one.

The basic synopsis of this film was “Three siblings who are fed up with their impossible mother, are able to make her completely disappear. They then head to the local market to select a new parent.” I honestly can tell a difference in watching a film a few decades later. I was 10 when this movie came out. The actress from My Girl was one of my favorites.

I don’t know if this one stood the test of time or if I was just jonesing for the past. I’ll probably have to show my stepdaughter this one and see what she thinks. It’s on Youtube for free so it’s not going anywhere soon.

Did you watch this back in the day? Who was your favorite mother? The basic idea of each one really hit home to me. The fancy, snobbish mom. The sporty, active mom. The eccentric, circus mom. They all were kind of extreme in my opinion. But I think my ideal mother is different. Ideals are always hard to create in reality though, right? Which I suppose was the whole point of the story.

I especially loved the witchy older lady that they helped out. She’s the kind of lady I want to be when I get old. Haha. Or maybe not, I love plants, but the heat outside always ends up making me feel horrible. I’ll just be that elderly kitchen witch lady when I become an old biddy.
On that note, thanks for indulging in my romp through the past. I think I’m going to pull up Drop Dead Fred on Tubi TV and finish off this ’90s flashback with a bang! Do you guys have a favorite film from the ’90s? I wouldn’t say any of these are my favorite but I did enjoy them. Picking a favorite from that decade would take a lot more research and comparison.
Catch you guys tomorrow!
