Lord of the Rings … ONLINE

While everyone else is off playing Elden Ring, I’m downloading Lord of the Rings Online. I haven’t given up on Guild Wars 2 or The Elder Scrolls Online. Just tempted into another direction for a bit. Another friend is over here and then Dr. Doctor mentioned trying it. As a Lord of the Rings fan, I’m sad to admit I have never played this game before. It’s currently downloading. So I can’t really give any kind of review.

It boasts: ” 7 races, 11 classes, 10 professions, 7 vocations, plus over 1,000 titles, skills, and traits…” So we shall see how this goes. Let’s all admit it. I’m going to be a Hobbit. I like to be the tiny race. I’m not that small myself. I’m 5″3 in real life. So not really short. Definitely not tall though. Time to be a Hobbit! (You can be a human, elf, dwarf, and hobbit.)

Download, dang it! FASTER~! If you’re curious about the game as well, feel free to head over here to check things out. Deep in my heart, I know what I really want right now is a good tabletop game, but that hasn’t worked out for me or my SO lately. We can’t find people who fit our play style or life schedule. Making friends as a grown-up is really hard, you know?

Oh wow! I finally got the game downloaded and look at the different races and classes you can play! So far the hardest thing I’ve noticed was being able to pick out a character name. Female hobbits are named after jewels or flowers and all the good names have already been taken. I honestly think that more MMO’s need to take on a naming convention like Champions Online by Arc Games. Your global/username is the main identifier and so your character names can be just about anything.

You actually have choices for the origin of your Hobbit. The skin tone is a bit different and I think for the males the naming conventions are a bit different, but females are the same naming selection. For such an old game this is a pretty cool selection choice. Lauralin was the RP server, so that’s where I ended up landing. How do you think my character Baojin turned out?

The gameplay is going to take a bit of time to get used to right now. Switching between different video games sometimes confuses me. I will probably take a break after this first part of the storyline and wait for my SO to get off work so that I can run through the storyline with him. Unless I’ve got to get further along in the story to meet up with someone outside my own race. Derp. So confusing!

Maybe I should have made a last name for my character? I don’t know. Thanks for checking out this new game insanity at least. I’m not sure if this game will really stick though. We shall see. Anywho, thanks for checking out my post today! See you guys tomorrow!
