Hello May

May is packed with things! It’s Mental Health Awareness Month. Asian-American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (I’m Filipino-American~! I don’t know enough about my culture though.) Borderline Personality Disorder Awareness Month (I don’t have BPD, but a number of folks I know do). And there are a ton of other holidays happening this month…

Today is May Day! It is a day of unity, togetherness, and rebirth; a day for everyone to come together and celebrate life as we know it! There’s the May Pole dance, making May baskets, and gathering flowers! I don’t really celebrate any of those things, but I’ve always found them very interesting! April showers bring May flowers. And gosh you can feel the end of the Cold Spring rains. We had some cool weather for a bit, but it feels like a distant memory already. The temperatures are climbing and my MIL’s garden is taking shape.

I love the Rock! He’s one of my favorite actors, plus his own talks about battling depression really inspire me.

May the 4th be with you and Revenge of the 5th are two really big Star War nerd days. I’ll be making a post on those days about my love of Star Wars!

Let’s just admit it’s an excuse Americans use to eat Mexican food… but I have some friends who have birthday’s on this day, so it’s a pretty great day in general!

I really need to get back on my diet, but I found this “holiday” to be a hoot.

Our Mother’s Day is at a different time than some other parts of the world. How strange. Don’t forget to tell your Mothers, Step Moms, and other Maternal Figures in your life that you love and appreciate them. And if they weren’t people that you loved and appreciated, then treat yourself to a great day for making due without them!

I grew up in a family that traveled with the military. My brother served in the Navy. So woo, Armed Forces Day!

Pools, BBQs, the end of school for some, and remembering those who died in service for the USA.

Personally, for the month of May, I will be working on cleaning! I need to go tackle the storage unit, but first I’ve been working on cleaning our bedroom. It’s been a bit of a struggle, but I’ve put small dents in the mess. I’m going to really do a huge change in the space in June while my stepdaughter is away at 4H Camp. Her room will be the staging area for all of the things I’m pulling out of our bedroom.

I need to clear out from under our bed and I’m going to put it on risers so I can end up fitting more underneath there. I honestly get exhausted and overwhelmed just thinking about it. Hopefully breaking it down into smaller pieces will help. I’ll just have to try and handle it the best I can for now. No sense in getting myself worked up before I even start the project.

Anywho, thanks for stopping in today! I hope your month of May goes well and that it’s jam-packed with lots of amazing things.

    1. LOL, I just posted a link from National Today. I’m not sure why it’s showing up as May 10th. I don’t have control over there.
