Monster Care Squad

What happens if someone crosses Monster Tamers with Studio Ghiblieque artwork? You’ve got Monster Care Squad.

Whimsy. High Fantasy. There’s no HP. You don’t have the threat of dying. Ever wonder what it would be like if a tabletop game was focused on the roleplay instead of all the dice and min-maxing of your character sheet? You can fail and you might get knocked away from a battle, but you can always come back.

PLUS even the GM can make a character. That’s in character your “mentor” for the adventure.

It was ONLY $25. A physical copy is like $65. Which I suppose puts it on par with other role-playing gamebooks. But for the digital copy of everything. $25. That’s really not that bad compared to a ton of the other games that I’ve played in the past. Dungeons and Dragons. Pathfinder. Savage Worlds. Changeling. World of Darkness. Shadowrun. Dungeons and Dragons also have SO much stuff that costs you money to just play the game. (Roll20 is a great tabletop resource, but to have a lot of the things you want for a good campaign there, you have to pay for it.)

This game looks really cute and I’m looking forward to playing a game with my SO. I wonder if this would be a kid-friendly game. My stepdaughter is 10 and I’m not sure if she’s ready to start playing tabletop RPGs yet.

The artwork is SO cute. I feel like some Pokemon trainers just wandered accidentally into one of Miyazaki’s movies. What do you think of it? IF you’re familiar with tabletop roleplaying games, I’d love to hear your opinion. I know a lot of people aren’t fans of whimsical notions in their gaming so this might not be your cup of tea. It’s like the polar opposite of everyone that loves the grimdark ideology.

I’m staring at all of you folks that watch Pokemon horror stories where the poor trainer gets eaten by a Pokemon. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ That still has me reeling. If you think this is something that perks your interests. You can find the game over here at Sandy Pug Games.

Thanks for stopping by and reading. You’ll definitely be hearing more about this game from me once I actually get to sit down and create a character.
