20th Century Girl

Okay, so I have to say that I used to really enjoy Japanese dramas so much, but lately, it seems like everything that I really connect with has some from Korea. I don’t know why, but the Korean film industry has really been knocking things out of the ballpark lately! I could probably sit here all day and list off so many films or series that I’ve been hooked on from there.

The film I watched today though is really amazing. I was in high school in 1999 when this movie takes place so a lot of this brings nostalgia to my heart. There’s something about the story that’s very touching. Wanting to help your best friend find out more about the guy she liked. There’s a bit of predictability in the storyline. Love triangles. My SO only briefly poked his head into the room while I was watching this one and he pretty much called the drama that I was not expecting.

It’s very heart-wrenching and there’s not a perfect happy ending. I don’t want to spoil it too much. But everyone doesn’t end up happy and perfectly in love. It’s definitely a wonderful romance film though. And I wouldn’t let the ending stop you from watching it. Just make sure you have some tissue ready if you’re like me and cry during movies.

It was a bit short today, but I figured getting back into the swing of writing again was better than nothing at all. If you want to watch 20th Century Girl, you can find it on Netflix.
